From June 12th to 14th, the National Scholarship Council (CSC) sponsored a social practice and cultural experience program for international students called “2023 Perception of China - Charming Shaanxi Journey”. Hosted by Xi'an Shiyou University, the program visited Yan'an, Zhiluo and Fengdong Free Trade Zones in Shaanxi province in Northwest China.
Forty undergraduate and graduate students from 14 countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, Tanzania, and Malaysia, took part in the event.
In this year's event, overseas students were organized to venture out of the campus and explore Yan'an, its countryside, and the newly established free trade industrial park. Through this experience, they were able to immerse themselves in the rich history and culture of China, particularly the revolutionary history and culture of the CPC in Yan'an. In addition, they gained insights into the revitalization, development, and changes taking place in Fuxian county. These experiences were further enriched through participation in activities such as interacting with Zhiluo primary school students in English, playing football, as well as visiting Fengdong Free Trade Zone in Xixian New Area and learning about the latest policies on innovation and entrepreneurship. Overall, this excellent business environment and entrepreneurial platform provided a comprehensive and multi-dimensional understanding of China's history, culture, and modern development, and enabled our overseas students to gain a unique perspective on these topics.
