The 2022 Exploring the Charming Shaanxi, Deeper Understanding of China event was launched at Xi'an Shiyou University in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on June 16.
A total of 39 international students from 17 countries, including Russia, Tanzania, and Turkmenistan, participated in the event, visiting the beautiful countryside of Shaanxi and witnessing the province's poverty alleviation achievements first-hand.
Hosted by the China Scholarship Council, the event is organized by Xi'an Shiyou University, aiming to deepen the understanding and recognition of international students amid China's current economic and social development.
Zhang Rongjun, vice president of Xi'an Shiyou University, said at the launch ceremony that the event will help international students understand China's past, present and future, and better engage with China while carrying out foreign exchange and cooperation. It will also improve their career prospects after graduation.

The international students visited Yufeng village, Jiangu village and Yongping Boarding Primary School in Yongping town, Yongshou county, Xianyang city, Shaanxi.
In Yufeng village, a demonstration village for poverty alleviation, the international students learned about changes in local villagers' food, housing and transportation, and praised the local scenery and clean and tidy living environment.

They also interacted with the students of Yongping Boarding Primary School and visited villagers' courtyards and cattle sheds in Jiangu village.
Baiama from Russia is an international student majoring in computer application technology at the College of International Education at Xi'an Shiyou University. She said that she has been in Xi'an for about three years and she likes the city a lot. She also said she plans to stay in China to work after graduation.
